It’s an invitation to witness the raw, unfiltered moments that shape a holistic life coach’s path to empowerment and healing.

Saying Goodbye and Embracing New Beginnings

This past week has been a profound journey of both closure and new beginnings. We bid our final farewell to Evelyn, my mother-in-law, with a beautiful service that honoured her life and legacy. Although she passed away in December, we chose to wait until her birthday for the interment, allowing us to celebrate her in a meaningful way. The service was recorded so that family members who couldn’t attend could still share in the moment, and Aunt Nancy’s eulogy was a heartfelt tribute that touched everyone present. Her words painted a vivid picture of Evelyn’s life.

Finding Joy in the Simple Things

One undeniable positive has been the daily presence of my grandson, Clark. His laughter and curiosity bring light to even the most stressful days. Watching him discover the world anew reminds me of the simple joys of life. Whether he’s helping me wash the floor or exploring the yard, his enthusiasm is contagious. These moments with Clark are precious, offering a respite from the constant hustle of unpacking and organizing.

However, the process of deciding what to keep and what to let go of has been overwhelming. Each item carries a memory, making it hard to part with them, yet I know it’s necessary for this new chapter. The thought of living minimally is both daunting and liberating, and Clark’s innocent joy helps me keep perspective.

Grounding in Nature

Summer provides a natural way for me to stay grounded. I spend nearly all my time outdoors barefoot, connecting with the earth beneath me. There’s something profoundly healing about feeling the grass, soil, and stones directly underfoot. This practice of grounding helps me stay centered amidst the chaos of moving and downsizing.

In the midst of unpacking and organizing, I’ve taken breaks to get my hands dirty with some gardening. We hope that the plants from our previous home will adapt to their new environment, and we’ve been using compost that we’ve nurtured over time. The rich, dark compost is a testament to our efforts to live sustainably, turning kitchen scraps and yard waste into nourishment for our plants.

Brooklyn and I also spent time replanting flowers at Cam’s Corner, a space that holds deep emotional significance for us. Cam’s Corner, named in memory of a loved one, is a place of reflection and beauty. Tending to this space is a way to honour his memory and keep his spirit alive in our hearts. As we planted flowers, I felt a sense of peace and connection, knowing that we were creating a living tribute to someone who meant so much to us.

Progress and Setbacks

My next project is to boost the grass with new seed, ensuring that our yard remains a vibrant, welcoming space. The pin cherry tree is thriving, its branches laden with delicate blossoms, but the patio area remains cluttered, limiting our enjoyment of the lilac tree. We’re taking things one day at a time, knowing that each step forward, no matter how small, brings us closer to a sense of normalcy.

The weather has been unpredictable, with rain adding an extra layer of challenge to our efforts to unpack and organize. Yet, I find solace in the rain, knowing it nourishes the plants and the earth, even if it slows down our progress. The rhythmic sound of raindrops on the roof of the trailer is soothing, a reminder that nature’s cycles continue regardless of our personal upheavals.

Looking Forward

We’re still waiting for the power to be connected in my office, but having internet access is a significant step forward. Working intermittently from my daughter-in-law’s internet connection had been a temporary solution, but I’m eager to set up my own space and resume my routines fully. The office is slowly coming together, with each box unpacked bringing a sense of accomplishment and progress.

The trailer remains in the driveway for now, as we need to clear out the dilapidated shed before we can move it to its intended spot. It’s been years since we wanted to tear down the shed, and now it feels like the right time to make that change. Clearing out the shed will be a major task, but it’s one that promises a fresh start and a more organized space.

Reflecting on the Journey

This experience has been a lesson in patience and resilience. Each day, we make a bit more progress, moving one step closer to being fully organized and settled. There is a lesson in this transition, one that I am sure will reveal itself in due time. For now, all I can do is take it one day at a time, finding peace in the small victories and staying grounded through the process.

The Grandfather Teaching of Humility has been particularly resonant for me during this time. Living in a trailer, selling off possessions, and facing uncertainty are humbling experiences. They remind me to live selflessly, to respect my place in the world, and to appreciate the support of those around me. The wolf, representing Humility, teaches that life is lived for the pack, not the individual, and that finding balance within oneself and with all living things is paramount.

In Gratitude and Reflection

Meegwich for being part of this journey. Your support and presence mean the world to me as we navigate these changes together. Each message of encouragement, each shared moment of reflection, strengthens our bond and helps me see the light even in the darkest times.

Until next week’s whisper, let us continue to find strength in our shared experiences and the wisdom of the teachings that guide us. Together, we will embrace the lessons of life, grow from our challenges, and move forward with hope and resilience.
