How the challenge works Before we start, 

  1. You’ll take a “before” pic!! Do not skip this step!!!
  2. Track your measurements – this is about inches, not just the scale! Although most will not share any of this in detail, I am going to track my journey over the next 14 days and share it with you!

Daily Plan for the 14 days. Try to do each of these practices around the same time every day:

  1. Practice self-care (affirmations, baths, oils, meditation, prayer, etc) for 10 mins a day. We are going to nurture our adrenal glands!
  2. Walk (or some other form of moderate exercise) for at least 30 minutes every day. Move your body!
  3. Take Slim, Active, & Ease daily
  4. Meals and snacks should include fresh produce, lean protein, and healthy fats. (side note: this is my biggest challenge)
  5. Record your experience in your daily journal, including struggles and successes, during our daily check-in!
  6. Sleep well
  7. Track your water intake! You need, at minimum, half of your body weight in ounces of water daily. (Right now, for me that’s 100 ounces)

One of the things that I know is preparation is key. Prepare for anything to happen like getting stuck at work, an appointment taking longer than expected, unexpected change of plan … anything can happen and I know this has got me into trouble!!! I’ve got this!! Suggested schedule of products

  • AM – 3 Ease
  • Mid-morning – Slim
  • After lunch/by 1 pm – Active
  • PM – 3 Ease

A tip is to set an alarm on your phone for reminders so you’re better able to take your products consistently each day! Now I’m going to be changing up taking products a little differently. I do not like the taste of the Active. Although I eat canned peaches, I have never liked a peach drink. I will be combining Slim Hunger Control and Active first thing in the morning and will drink a Slim Microbiome in the afternoon.

 

Day 1 – September 8

Today, I am starting off my day by setting up journalling through this blog.  Why am I making it public? Mainly to hold me accountable.  And technically, I can simply delete the post if it’s not going well, but who am I cheating? Just me. No one else cares if I gain, lose, or stay the same. It doesn’t impact their health.  My biggest downfall has been eating chips and not taking the time to move. I’ve used the excuse that my mobility has been a challenge because of past injury and when I’ve started any physical activity in the last few months, I’ve re-injured myself. And although that’s true, I need to hold myself accountable that there are other things that I could have done instead. 

Here are my “before” pics from this morning.

I’ve been in a 12-week Weightloss Challenge (this is week 11 of this current challenge). I weigh more now than I did when I started the challenge. I’ve gained more than 14 pounds since starting it. I’ve dropped a few times when I’ve watched what I was eating. But seriously, who starts a weight loss challenge and gains 14 MORE pounds??? It’s NOT happening for these 14 days. I’m committing to the 30 minutes of moving my body daily, working towards making better food choices, and using Plexus supplements.    A friend and I have committed to walking twice a week, so that will help me be motivated on those two days. And it’s now officially in my calendar. My physical activity today was for about an hour. I’ve been working with my friend, Sherry who assesses where I’m at and helps me move according to where I’m at. I trust her because I know she will respect my limits while pushing me a little farther. She nursed my body back to functionality after my car accident and other injuries. We’ve seen tremendous improvements in the last few months, even more in the last few weeks. Drinking water has always been something that I’m good at. I haven’t even been making sure that I drink my water consistently. And I already know that I NEED my water daily. When I don’t drink enough water, my body doesn’t like that and I end up retaining a large amount of water.  This 14-day Challenge is the beginning for me. My goal is to get down at least 7 pounds (half of what I’ve gained in 12 weeks) by the time we start our next 12-week Weightloss Challenge which starts September 21. Here’s my starting weight (I don’t even want to share it, but I’m going all-in).  The 12-week Weightloss Challenge should be a great motivator. It’s a cash incentive challenge. It costs $40 to join. We have someone from out of town who joined, so we are going to change up our weigh-in format for those out of town. The $40 entry fee ($20 pooled for prizes and $20 deposit for fines). We weigh-in once a week: Mondays 6-7 pm. A fine of $2 will be applied against your deposit if: you gain weight or you don’t show for a weigh-in. The weigh-in is confidential.  ALL entrance fees and fines are pooled to distribute back to the winners as follows:

  • 1st Place – 50% of Pool
  • 2nd Place – 30% of Pool
  • 3rd Place – 20% of Pool

Participants are encouraged to join the private Facebook Group for additional support. And participants are expected to perform some type of moderate to intense physical activity for 45 min, 3 to 5 times per week. For me, that 12-week Challenge isn’t about the “cash incentive” but being able to have some accountability and motivation is my goal. It was good the first round pre-COVID shutdown, but since then regardless, it’s been easier to have a bag of potato chips every couple of days. And that’s my biggest downfall right now. 

Starting today, I am on a mission to get healthier. Coming from an eating disorder background, I’ve gone the other way since changing those behaviours. It’s time to eat healthier and be active without restricting calories or purging.  When I got serious a few years ago, this was my outcome in a 6-month period. I know I can do this if I simply stay focussed on my health. I am at risk of heart disease and diabetes from my family history. I do not need to make myself a statistic. I got this!!! (Here’s a pic from that time. It’s a great motivator for me.)

In 2013, between January 5 to July 27, I lost 30.8 lbs, 44.25″ and went from a size 16 to a size 12. My goal over the next 6 months is to meet or beat these numbers.

I’m going to do this. I’ve got this! This is for me!!!

 

Day 2 – September 9

It was a later than expected night. We went to a 70th birthday gathering. By the time we got home, had my bath, and got ready for bed, it was pretty late. Then I finished my challenge journal. I still managed to get to bed at a decent hour, but my “wind-down” was much later than usual on a Tuesday evening. Once or twice a month, I work later on Tuesday, so this was an extra late night.

Today is a late-night, as I have a Soulful Lifehacks Group Coaching session tonight which starts at 8 pm Eastern. Sometimes it’s straight coaching, while others it is sharing different tools or techniques. It varies from week to week.

I was finished a little earlier, but I had to send off some information to someone about me. I hope I wasn’t too late getting it sent off.

This morning I woke up at 3:00 am and had difficulty going back to sleep. Reading, writing, and jotting down ideas was what I did for a couple of hours. I managed to sleep for a couple more hours.

My body was a little sore and uncomfortable from my workout with Sherry. I wasn’t in pain, just uncomfortable. I still need to stay committed to the 30-minute activity though.

I played some music and danced around the Wellness Center. I irritated my son, but we had no one in here and I needed a brain and body break, so I took advantage of only having two of us in here at that time. Released some energy and got movement in … two birds.

Proper sleep patterns are part of the challenge. I had some really good sleep after different healing sessions last week. One of which was a hypnosis. He gave me a bedtime audio that I decided to listen to early this morning when I went back to sleep.

I’m going to be a little later getting off to sleep by the time I’m done posting my update, but I am able to sleep in. I still tend to wake up with the daylight, so I may be up early still, but going to try and sleep in until 8:00 am at least.

Water was a success today!!! Still not quite at the amount that I am supposed to be drinking but I can feel the water retention has decreased. I actually get quite swollen from not drinking enough water.

Tomorrow I should be able to reach my 100 ounces. I’m about 80 ounces today. I will likely drink more through the night as I do wake up to pee and then I drink more water at the same time usually.

The first goal is to get back to drinking enough, the next goal will be to drink it earlier in the day to save my middle of the night bathroom breaks. Baby steps.

All in all, I’m happy with my accomplishments today.

Day 3 – September 10

WOO HOO I did it!!! It’s only taken me 3 days, but I drank ALL of my water. It wasn’t early enough which means I will be up many times through the night taking a pee 🙃 

BUT I took it all in. BIG accomplishment! 

Today was a stretching day for my movement. Tomorrow my friend, Chris and I start walking twice a week. 

We brought in all the plants inside the Wellness Center so we can separate and transplant them in the next week. The fern looks awesome in the corner of my office. It will stay there for the winter and next Spring we will put it back outside. We will do some garden therapy next week at Inner Moon Goddess Circle as we transfer the Wellness Center’s outside plants to indoors. Connecting with the earth and the root systems is very grounding. Soon we will start a series of Chakradance (9 weeks) every Thursday as we move through the Chakras starting with an introduction and ending with an integration. We haven’t done a series of Chakradance in a while, this is much needed. 

It’s been one of those busy days that feels like nothing got accomplished only because the “planned” day shifted to something completely different, but so many things are now done on that list of things that got done instead. 

The girls at Divine Crystal Healing Shop have been trying to get the online store working properly but there is still an issue with inventory carrying over. We troubleshot the best we could but had to reach out for help. Hopefully, they can figure out where it’s not connecting. Fingers crossed.

We decorated in support of “journée du drapeau franco-ontarien”. We don’t have a flag so we went with the flag colours. Although our programs are not “francophone” I offer “bilingual” services. If you are Francophone, I will do my best to address people in French. It’s important. I decided that I would offer a couple of workshops in French on September 22 in celebration of that day. 

 

If you know me, I follow the Moon Cycles, and sometimes (especially this week with the Long Weekend) I lose track of the day and what energy I’m in. I was “super flighty” and at one point I looked at Pam and said, “Is it an air moon today?” And sure enough, it was and has been. I’ve been all over the place this week, but today it was atrocious. Concentration was at ZERO. 

I’ve been working on getting ready for Soulful Lifehacks to relaunch. I’m sure I have a ton of messages and emails piling up, but they will be there next week. This and Wellness Center stuff is my biggest priority. Back to “normal” next week. Then I think, what’s normal, with a big chuckle. 

Remembering that I can’t control everything and simply need to deal with one thing at a time as things come up can sometimes be tough. The furnace died and needs to be replaced, Sheldon’s car has more things wrong with the car, my new parents’ car (which we share mostly) was given a huge list of things that are needed, and now there’s a problem with the furnace at the Wellness Center. It must be in the air because our aunt had a list similar to ours about what had broken down all at once. This too shall pass. Take a deep breath and remind myself that I can only deal with one thing at a time.

Off to set some intentions, meditate, and get ready for bed

Day 4 – September 11

Today was a little more of a challenge to get the update posted, but I still took the time to reflect on my day. 

My friend and I managed to get out for our first walk. We can only do this until it gets cold, but we’ve committed to twice a week, then we will figure p9 what to do then. Cross that bridge when we get to it.

The last two days have been met with challenges of getting things done that are on my list of things to do, but have successfully completed those tasks that crept up in their place.

Then at the end of the day, just as I am winding down, the solution to the Divine Crystal Healing Shop website issue came to light, but I needed to spend the time screen sharing with the tech guy. 

Tomorrow we need to fix some data issues, then hopefully he can fix the problem. 

Getting all my water💧in today was much tougher than yesterday. I was short about 20 ounces. It’s a work in progress, but 100 ounces is a lot of water for one belly 😆.

But this is all my brain can take with self-reflecting for tonight. It’s now nearly 1:00 am. 

Day 5 – September 12

I drank all of my water by 8:00 pm yesterday. That was awesome! I still had to get up to pee but not with the same sense of urgency from earlier this week. 

I’m feeling rather annoyed with the technical aspects of things in business. I’ve spent a great deal of time sitting at the computer trying to resolve the issue.

These are all growing pains. Once we get through the hump, it will be phenomenal. I can’t wait until all of Divine Crystal Healing Shop is fully functional online. Our friend, Pam has been working hard to help get the data added. And it will be incredible once we get there. 

It’s super late again tonight, so posting is definitely not happening tonight.

Day 6 – September 13

Woo hoo! I hit another accomplishment today, my pee was clear yellow by early afternoon. It means I’ve finally hit my hydration. Happy Dance!!! If nothing else this first week, I’ve been able to be well hydrated. 

AND I even got all my water in before dinner. I still continued to drink after that, but it was not this big rush to get more water in before the end of the day. 

I need to be more conscious throughout the day to have another successful hydration day.

Two wins in one day BONUS! 

Physical activity both today and yesterday is nearly zilch. I spent a lot of time (and late nights) at the computer dealing with the website issue. I’m really hoping that will be resolved tomorrow. 

It’s just after 9:00 pm and I’ve had my bath and in my bed as I reflect on my day.

I need to get back into the habit of setting up my morning rituals. It doesn’t need to be long. Just a few minutes each morning. I have a new program that will be about 16-weeks long where every 10 days there will be a new focus, starting with the 7 Chakras. I will start that with the New Moon in Virgo ♍ on Thursday.

Lots of exciting things are beginning this month. This program will be shared with those in the Soulful Lifehacks and Seasonal Divinity Box, both of which are open for registration. I get excited about the change of the seasons.

My focus tonight is a good restful sleep. That much closer having been able to get my water in sooner.

Day 7 – September 14

Week 1 is now completed. Although I’ve had some life/work challenges, I still managed to be successful on the goal that I set out for this week. Drinking all my water. AND still managed to get my water in earlier in the day. 

We did our final weigh-in for this 12-week Challenge. Although it’s not much, I lost 0.6 lbs during this week. The only thing that I did was make sure to increase my water intake. I am fully hydrated and I can feel that in my body, particularly in my joints. 

My focus for this week coming is to stay away from eating chips (that is my bad habit right now). I will not change anything else this week but that. My goal is to make some long term changes so doing this slowly is what I need to do. We will continue to walk twice a week and I will work out with Sherry once a week. 

It may seem like very little changes, but these are big changes. Making changes that last will make the biggest impact. Here are seven ways to shift your mindset:

  1. Slow and steady wins the race.
  2. Change the plan, not the goal.
  3. Surround yourself with positive people.
  4. Slow down and simply focus on the act of breathing.
  5. Consciously make the negative thoughts stop by saying ‘stop’ out loud.
  6. Talk to yourself like you would a friend.
  7. Focus on solutions, not excuses.
