How many of the latest self help books have you read? How many articles have you read from Oprah? How many episodes of Dr. Phil have you watched? How many workshops or classes have you taken?

All of these are part of a great start, but all of these are generic. They are not tailored to you. You get to take bits and pieces of all these resources, then you have to put the puzzle together. The puzzle of your life. There is no better expert than you. Sometimes we need someone to hold us accountable to move forward.

Can you relate to questions?

  • Do you sometimes feel like you’ve reached the end of your rope; feeling trapped or maybe moving through the motions.

  • Do you give to everyone else and then feel like there’s not enough time for you.

  • Do you have the intention of setting goals to find that a month, or two, or maybe even longer, has passed and there’s still so many things left undone, if started at all.

  • Are you feeling exhausted? bored? unfulfilled? and maybe even guilty?

  • Have you lost sight of your purpose?

Personal or professional coaching can help you follow your path, your destiny, your purpose. It’s allows you an effective and quick way to get your questions answered and work through life’s challenges. When you work with a coach, you gain clarity on what the next steps should be. Allows you to take action that you might otherwise be missing.

It’s a safe place to sound off ideas, thoughts, feelings that you might not otherwise be able to do with your family or friends. It is a neutral place where you can hash out the good with the bad. But also to have someone who will hold you accountable to your action steps.

When you have this supportive person to help you work through things, you feel balanced, energized, self-nurturing, fun, inspired. You learn to trust your inner wisdom. You connect and impress your true authentic self. You feel on task, accomplished and have the ability to set the intentions to move forward.

Is coaching fail proof? Absolutely NOT! There are a few things that will impact successful coaching.  Coaching requires both people to be engaged. It’s not about told what to do. It’s helping you identify what you need to learn without being told what to do. It helps you gain your “a-ha’s”. You need to be open to the process. It needs to be done on a regular basis if you want to gain the insight to implement the changes that you are seeking to change. This is why most coaches have bundles (packages) that they offer their clients. Effective coaching can help you develop new skills and capabilities faster.

It’s important to find a coach who is honest about the services they are able to provide to their clients. And it’s really important for them to be as honest about the things they are not qualified to provide. I often see coaches slap on the title of “coach” because they can, but also because they provide an illusion that all is “GREAT” in their life. Life is not perfect. We have ups and downs. We have issues and problems. We have family. But how we work through these issues is key.

Effective coaching can be done 1:1, individually or a combination of both. Social media can be really deceiving because you see only what people want to see. And that’s usually the rosy parts of their lives. Changing your life takes work. And if you don’t do the work, nothing will change and no promises from anyone in the world are going to make a difference.
